From Mushrooms to Global Manufacturing

Paddy McShane established our business in 1996 originally as Progress Mushroom supplies selling sundry products to the industry. This began with a £3,500 Credit Union loan and one van covering sales across Northern Ireland. Within 3 years, Paddy grew this to 4 vans covering the breadth of Ireland.

Joined by his wife Philippa in 2002, they worked together to evolve the business into McShane Packaging beginning to manufacture plastic packaging for the mushroom industry across the UK, Ireland and Europe. 2007 saw us receive our first AA BRC Certification, which we have proudly retained annually for nearly 30 years, including a AA* certification during an unannounced audit.

In 2014, Paddy and Philippa announced a £4m investment into technological infrastructure, with the addition of Sheet Extruder and Forming Machines to increase capability. We swiftly expanded into the whole food sector in 2015 bringing on poultry, fruit and other vegetables with clients internationally, who we are still working with today.

To celebrate our 25th birthday in 2021, we announced further £2m investment towards a state-of-the-art production facility and innovative new technology that allows the creation of packaging for any food product.

Now, we proudly employ 40 staff across 3 sites in the North and South of Ireland supplying the food industry in the UK, Ireland, Europe, South America and beyond.
